I would like to know why this Israeli jet is circling so loudly overhead for the past 10 mn and if it would just please drop that bomb and get it over with, because the suspense is killing me.

This is from Israel North:
I returned yesterday evening. I won't leave Haifa any more. It seems that Tel-Aviv lives (or pretends to live) as if nothing special happens. TV-sets in restaurants and pubs are tuned into sports channels. Are visitors afraid to lose appetite with our news? True, there are discounts for the "North dwellers" - we were let into a musum less than half price. The bus to Haifa is full. Faces of the boys from "Golani" are soft and tired; they were going to the hospital to visit their comrades. They were speaking to each other quietly and briefly: ambush, wounded, perished... I was looking at them, listening to the news and cried. Big dark inpenetratable sun-glasses. Style of an "Italian widow". They hid (sic) all that is written or poured on my face. Saddness in particular.

Changing the World?

For a long time we thought we wanted to be part of a big group of people that wanted to change the world. Then we realized our basic tendancies to seclusion and misanthropy so we thought perhaps we'd satisfy ourselves by just trying to be nice, patient, and tolerant. Then we discovered that be trying to be nice and patient and tolerant we are part of a big group of people, many of whom are loners and mosanthropes, who want to change the world just by trying to go a little easier, use a little less and give a little more.

We also found some interesting stuff on the web...
